How Diet Extends Life Expectancy
New Study Confirms: What We Eat Determines our Lifespan
Plant-based foods significantly increase life expectancy
In the comprehensive study, Norwegian scientists have discovered that people who switch their diet to plant-based foods in the long term can significantly increase their lifespan. The results speak for themselves: A diet rich in legumes, whole grains and nuts significantly extends life expectancy. According to the study, women and men who switch to a plant-rich diet as early as the age of 20 can increase their life expectancy by up to ten years.
Less meat, more healthy years of life
The influence of animal products on lifespan was also analyzed in detail: A drastic reduction in red and processed meat not only reduces health risks such as cardiovascular diseases or cancer, but also directly leads to an increased life expectancy. Even people who switch to a healthy diet at the age of 60 benefit from an extension of their life expectancy by an average of eight years.
The positive effect is based on the high concentration of health-promoting ingredients in plant-based foods: Fiber, secondary plant compounds and unsaturated fatty acids promote cell regeneration, reduce inflammation and protect against chronic diseases.
A sustainable change in eating habits is a key factor in significantly extending our lifespan.
